Churchill County, Nevada (pop. 25,000), a rural community an hour from the Reno-Lake Tahoe area, is seeking a leader with a steady hand to serve as its next County Manager. Under the direction of the three-member County Commission, the County Manager leads and directs the work of 11 department heads in fulfilling the organization’s mission. The County is supported by a budget of $73 million, approximately 210 FTE’s, and has enjoyed a remarkable history of stable leadership.
Ideal candidates will possess strong financial management and budgeting skills coupled with experience managing growth and economic development. Desirable traits include someone who is fiscally conservative, accessible and apt to reach out, and willing to get involved in the community both in and outside of work. At least eight years of experience in government and/or business administration, with at least five of those years being in a managerial or supervisory capacity and a Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration or a related field are desirable with a Master’s degree preferred.
