Elko County, Nevada (pop. 52,000) is seeking an accomplished accounting professional with demonstrated supervisory experience to join a dedicated staff. The Comptroller will report to the Assistant County Manager/CFO and under his administrative direction will oversee the finance, accounting, payroll, and collections functions of the County. Assisting in the management of the County’s $32M general fund and $60M total budget will be a key priority. The Comptroller will manage an office of seven total staff members, and the position offers a wide degree of independence and autonomy.
The ideal candidate will have senior-level accounting experience, including auditing work. The County would look favorably on someone seeking to make a longer-term commitment to the community with the potential to advance to CFO in the future. The ideal candidate will possess at least four years of experience in professional accounting, with at least two years being equivalent to a Senior Accountant in public accounting. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required – a Master’s degree and/or CPA designation are desirable.
