The Nevada Association of Counties (NACO) is seeking a Health & Human Services Research & Policy Analyst to support counties on issues affecting public health, human services, and county government.
This position serves as NACO's primary staff resource for health and human services issues and works closely with county officials, state agencies, legislators, and other partners. The Analyst will conduct policy research and analysis, monitor state and federal legislation and regulations, coordinate county and statewide initiatives, and provide technical assistance and resources to county members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and analyzing legislation, regulations, and policy developments affecting county health and human services.
- Preparing policy briefs, legislative summaries, fiscal analyses, reports, presentations, and other materials for NACO leadership and member counties.
- Coordinating initiatives involving county human services, public health, and state and community partners.
- Researching best practices, funding opportunities, and innovative approaches to health and human services delivery.
- Analyzing health and human services data and trends to support informed decision-making and policy development.
- Facilitating committees, workgroups, educational sessions, webinars, and other member activities.
- Building effective relationships with county officials, state agencies, legislators, and stakeholder organizations.
- Providing technical assistance and responding to member requests for information and resources.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in public administration, public health, social work, political science, health administration, communications, or a closely related field, along with two to four years of progressively responsible experience in public administration, health and human services, government relations, research and policy analysis, or program management. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Strong research, analytical, writing, communication, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination skills are essential. Knowledge of Nevada county government, public health and human services systems, and the legislative process is highly valued.
Salary
Starting at $70,000 annually, with salary placement based on relevant experience, education, qualifications, and responsibilities; candidate may be hired at the Senior Research & Policy Analyst level (starting at $80,000 annually) depending on education and experience.
